Grow It

This is the retreat/field trip/ conference portion of our pro-gram. It is during these retreats and conferences that our youth get to know other youth and adults and start to feel a connection to others. Also, these are great ways to encoun-ter God in different settings.

 

Each Student must attend the following three during their time in Ablazing Faith:

God With Us Retreat (offered 2007-08, 2009-10)

 

  • When: Fall or Spring Retreat (every other year)
  • Grades: 7th grade and up
  • Time: Friday night – Sunday afternoon
  • Estimated Cost: $80
  • Location: Typically Camp Omega or Lutheran Island Camp
  • Students will explore commandments 1-3 dealing with our relationship and response to God. What does it mean to have a relationship with Christ? How do we worship Him? How do we keep His name Holy?

 

Claimed By Christ Retreat (offered 2008-09, 2010-11)

 

  • When: Fall or Spring Retreat (every other year)
  • Grades: 7th grade and up
  • Time: Friday night – Sunday afternoon
  • Estimated Cost: $80
  • Location: Typically Camp Omega or Lutheran Island Camp
  • Students learn the importance of Baptism, forms of Baptism, how Baptism is connected to Confirmation, what the Bible says about when to baptize and how Baptism is used.

 

Life of Christ Retreat

 

  • When: offered 1 or 2 time per year
  • Grades: 7th grade and up
  • Time: All Day Saturday
  • Estimated Cost: $6
  • Location: Typically held at Trinity
  • What: This Multi Media course will study the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Each Student must attend 1 other Christian concert/event/conferencesof their choice during their time in Ablazing Faith: (Including, but not exclusively, the following) Other Chris-tian Concerts/Events come up each year not listed, we will in-form you as we hear about

Mark Mattlock –“Planet Wisdom” Conference

 

  • When: 1st Friday and Saturday of December
  • Grades: 8th-12th
  • Time: Friday evening through Saturday evening
  • Estimated Cost: $40 – $50
  • What: This conference is filled with incredible music, great laughter, cutting edge technology, wonderful speakers and many other surprises. The event is currently held at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. It has a great band, the Skit Guys, Mark Mattlock. The Revolve Tour

 

  • When: October typically
  • Grades:7-8
  • Time: Friday evening through Saturday evening
  • Estimated Cost: $75-$80
  • What: It‘s a weekend (Friday evening – Saturday) event for teen girls ― a fun, fast-paced, action-packed time when thousands of teens pile into an arena to hear about how much God loves them. http://www.revolvetour.com/

 

Sonshine Music Festival

 

  • When: Usually 2nd week of July
  • Grades: post 8th grade -12th grade
  • Time: Wednesday – a Saturday
  • Estimated Cost: $100 – $130
  • What: The Sonshine Music Festival is a 3-day music festival with over 100 different national and local bands and/or per-formers. You can hear punk, alternative, techno, country, rap, pop, ska, and rock music. There will be plenty of opportu-nities to dance, mosh, and crowd surf. You have the option of which bands you would like to see and when. We will be staying in Tent City which is located at Willmar High School. http://www.sonshinefestival.com/

 

Junior High Lock-In

 

  • When: Usually January
  • Grades: 7-8
  • Time: Friday Night ‗till Saturday Morning
  • Estimated Cost: $15-$20
  • Location: Mayer Lutheran High School
  • What: Games, Pizza, Youth Speaker, More Food, Inflatables, Bible Study, No Sleep – Put this all together and you have a great event on your hands!

 

Camp Omega – Summer Camp

 

  • When: Throughout the summer
  • Grades: all
  • Time: Typically Sunday-Friday
  • Estimated Cost: apporx. $300 (includes everything)
  • What: Summer camp offers a chance to enjoy time together with friends, learning more about our awesome Lord, and enjoying all the fun summer camp activities. Swimming in the pool, campfires, games on the hill, and canoeing are some of the activities planned. .(We do not attend camp as a congregation – we encourage you to find a friend or two and pick a week, and have a blast!) www.campomega.org
