This is the classroom/small group course work. Courses of-fered cover the core of our material and contain both; required courses and elective courses, as well as student, family, and parent courses.

 

Required Courses

(Offered minimum of 3 times over 2 years)

Ablazing Faith Introduction (1 time Meeting) (With Parent)

In this meeting (―Intro to Junior High‖ or a face to face meeting) the Ablazing Faith curriculum will be explored and stu-dents along with their families are invited to prayerfully consider the prospect of the Ablazing Faith process. It is neces-sary to have completed this Introduction in order to register for classes.

Creation: The Big Bang?

Students learn and study the 1st Article of the Apostles‘ Creed dealing with theories of creation, existence of God, worldviews of God and appreciation of creation.

Memorization: 1st Article & meaning

Holy Spirit and Life Everlasting

Students explore the 3rd Article of the Apostles‘ Creed and the Office of the Keys, looking at such issues as who the Holy Spirit is and what His presence is in our lives, what the Great Commission is and how that applies to us. We will also look at Revelation, resurrection, end times, judgment day, heaven and hell, and other world views.

Memorization: 3rd Article and meaning and Matthew 28:19-20

Biblical Themes

Students examine the Patriarchs, Wisdom Literature and the Major and Minor Prophets, Gospels, and the Epistles. We will use the theme of sin-judgment-grace and Covenant and weave in biblical examples of our faith journey.

Memorization: Books of the Old and New Testament

Marriage and Sexuality

Students explore issues such as God‘s Word on marriage, the role of sex in marriage, abstinence, sexual promiscuity, adultery, pornography, and dating.

Memorization: Commandment 6 and meaning

To Be or Not To Be

Students and facilitators will discuss issues like murder, abortion, euthanasia, eating disorders, capital punishment, sui-cide, salvation, and death.

Our Relationship with Others (Family Course)

Students and parents explore issues of authority and relationships with parents, friends, neighbors and everyone they come in contact with.

Memorization: Commandments 4 and 8 with meanings

Stewardship (Family Course)

Students and parents discuss what God has given us and others, and our response to those gifts.

Memorization: Commandments 7, 9 & 10 with meanings

This Is The Feast (Family Course)

Students may complete this course in 6th grade at Trinity Lutheran. Students will grow to understand the great blessing and benefit of celebrating the Lord‘s Supper.

Prayer

Students will explore prayer and spiritual disciplines in daily life. What is the importance of prayer? How does one pray? What are the benefits of prayer & a devotional life? A substantial amount of time is focused on the

Elective Courses

Life of Luther

Students will learn about the life and trials of Martin Luther. They will also study the process of how Lutherans came to be. The major motion picture ―Luther‖ will serve as the outline for this class.

Life as a Servant

Helping you discover ways to serve God by serving others. Some topics covered: Humility & Sacrifice – Redefining what it means to be successful; Seeing Christ in Others – Learning to serve God by serving His people; Bond Slave – Understanding what it means to be a slave to Christ.

World Religions

Students will learn about five different religions: Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Scientology, Mormonism, Cults and how we respond.

Finding God in Media

Students will examine the influence of media and music on their lives and what God‘s response is to contemporary me-dia and music.

Girl Talk 1

Ladies will explore what it means to be made in God‘s image and how we are beautiful, accepted, blessed, and eternal because of Jesus‘ love. Topics covered include: Appearance, Image, Worth, Purity, Value

Guy Talk 1

Gentlemen will explore what it means to be a man of God and what responsibilities come with it. Topics covered include: Being A Man, True Strength, Girls, Lust, and Responsibility
